Carmel View Ranch – Home

Horse Boarding

Carmel View Ranch is a private ranch off of Del Mar Mesa Road. With year round temperatures averaging in the 70’s, our location offers the ultimate climate for year-round riding. From the ranch, riders have direct access to miles of open-space trails as well as manicured horse trails around Del Mar Mesa.

Carmel View Ranch – History

Back in the 1970’s, Sheila and Robert Loftin, started a little ranch in the chaparral, north of San Diego and east of Del Mar, on what is now called Del Mar Mesa.

Since 1981, Robert has been raising, breeding and boarding horses. Over the years, there have been many changes but we continue to ride off the ranch into hundreds of acres of open space trails. The coastal climate is ideal for trail riding year round. Carmel View Ranch has evolved into a small boarding facility where trail riders can confidently board and ride their mounts.

Trainers, professional horse traders, therapeutic riding programs, clinics, camps, classes and lesson programs are not allowed at Carmel View Ranch. We do not lease or rent out horses.

When there is an evacuation, All halters should have a tag with the horse name, the owner name and phone number.

Register your cell phone at http://www.alertsandiego.org for notification of wildfires, etc., through Reverse 911. Please add the Cal Fire and SD Emergency apps to your cell phones for fast resource information in case of a fire or any other emergency situation.

Evacuation Site: Del Mar Fairgrounds Race Track 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd. San Diego, 92014 Telephone: 858-755-1161

The Del Mar Fairgrounds has evacuation information and forms on their site. Animal Evacuation forms need to be completed prior to an evacuation.

To evacuate animals to the Del Mar Fairgrounds, you must fill out the mandatory Del Mar Emergency Evacuation Animal Care Sheets. This form tracks the animal’s daily care and must be taped to the stall door during your stay.

Keep these forms filled out and printed in your horse trailer or tack room. You should also review the Del Mar Fairground Emergency Evacuation Information on Facebook for specific maps, bedding requests, and procedures. [1]
